The Way of Salvation

REPENT (change of heart and mind) and BELIEVE (believing God is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do!) Jesus commands Us to “Repent and believe the Gospel” now.

DEMONSTRATE REPENTANCE
John the baptizer warns us to demonstrate our repentance with the way we think and act and live our lives by the Holy Spirit or we will suffer destruction

REPENT and CHANGE
The Lord speaks through Isaiah and tells us to forsake[reject and change]our wicked ways [living life our own way, doing things our own way] and our unrighteous thoughts [speaking our own words, thinking our own thoughts] and to seek Him and call on Him [to deliver us from God’s wrath.] and return to the Lord for mercy and pardon. This is what true repentance from the heart means.

We are saved from our own sin and the wrath of God by reconciliation to Him through the blood of the cross of Messiah (Christ) Jesus.

BELIEVING and RECEIVING
The Apostle John tells us about believing and receiving Jesus and having the right to become children of God” (having God’s nature, just like Jesus) by being “born of God” (“born again”, born from above, born of the Holy Spirit). This is something we can not do. It must be done by an act of God. We can believe and receive only by the faith that God grants us by His Holy Spirit.

ABIDING in CHRIST
Jesus warns us to abide In Him and ask Him to forgive our sin and fill us with His Holy Spirit.

The new covenant is the gospel.
Covenant = a relationship between two people who make binding promises to each other
The Lord makes a covenant to put His law (His word) in us, to write it on our hearts, to forgive our sin and make us His people.

ACCOUNTABILITY TO JESUS


Obedience to Jesus and the Scripture is required
Jesus talks candidly about obeying His words and warns us of the dire consequences of disobedience.

The Lord Messiah, Jesus Christ, holds us accountable for what we do with what He has given us. Our rewards lie in our obedience to Him, to His word (the Scripture) and His will. These are achieved by yielding to His Holy Spirit’s work in us and through us rather than trusting our righteousness and efforts to be pleasing to Him.
